Minister of State at the Department of Rural Community Development and Dublin Fingal TD, Joe O’Brien, has announced funding of €55.5 million to address various social, economic and educational disadvantages nationwide.
Using monies from the Dormant Accounts Fund, the Dormant Accounts Action Plan 2022 will provide the funding to 42 measures across 10 government departments to address disadvantages and to support people with a disability.

Speaking at its launch, Minister O’Brien emphasised the plan’s commitment to help “long-term unemployment, traveller equality, youth disadvantage, migrant integration and probation supports to prevent reoffending.”
He added that “[the] funding makes a real difference to individuals and communities right across the country” and the plan “will help ensure that we can continue to support those who need it most during these challenging times.”
