Statkraft have began the consultation process for the North Irish Sea Array (NISA), an offshore wind energy project planned off the coast of Dublin, Meath and Louth. Rush is among the areas considered for the project.
The project—which commenced in 2019—aims to aid the transition to a carbon-neutral economy, with a focus on the development of clean, renewable energy in response to the problem of climate change. It aims to provide renewable energy for up to 500,000 homes in the region.
NISA’s proposal is targeting a planned submission date in 2022 and has launched a virtual consultation room with further information. Among the rooms is is an interactive, panoramic photo montage of the final proposal off the coast of Rush’s North Beach.
